Lake Parade 2001

The Lake Parade was a techno parade that has taken place every year since 1997 in the Swiss city of Geneva ; mostly on the same weekend as the Love Parade. In 2006 about 350,000 people took part in the parade; including many visitors from abroad. The Lake Parade, with the number of participants, is one of the smaller techno parades compared to the Love Parade in Berlin or the Street Parade in Zurich and is described as less commercial. The musical spectrum is somewhat broader. In addition to various styles of electronic dance music , there were u. a. some love mobiles with latino music. The event was named "Lake Parade" because the route runs along Lake Geneva (Lac Leman).

In 2016, the Lake Parade did not take place for the first time in almost two decades.

GHB scandal

The Lakeparade hit the headlines twice because of the multiple abuse of so -called knockout drops ( GHB ), which were mixed into the drinks without unsuspecting participants. Around a dozen people were each affected.
