Lake Tapps is a 1911 man-made reservoir in Pierce County, Washington by Puget Sound Energy (PSE) .

Until 2004, PSE generated electricity in the Dieringer Powerhouse . The hydroelectric power station was fed by a canal from the west side of Lake Tapps and fed approximately 32 km downstream into the White River . A dam in the southeast near Buckley diverts part of the White River through the Printz Basin in Lake Tapps.

In 2009 the lake was sold by PSE to the Cascade Water Alliance. The Cascade Water Alliance consists of the five cities of Bellevue , Issaquah , Kirkland , Redmond , Tukwila and the two Water Districts Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District and Skyway Water and Sewer District. The Cascade Water Alliance supplies over 20,000 businesses and almost 350,000 residents with drinking water.
