Lake Waipori (New Zealand)
Lake Waipori

Lake Waipori is the smaller and shallower of two lakes in the wetlands southwest of Dunedin in the Clutha District of the Otago region on New Zealand's South Island . The Waipori River flows through it, which in turn is a tributary of the Taieri River . The wetland forms the southern edge of the Taieri Plains . In the southwest, the Sinclair Wetlands border the lake.

The lake is inhabited by numerous water and marsh birds. For leisure activities, except for fishing and duck hunting, it cannot be used because of its shallow depth and poor access due to the surrounding swamps. The lake can be reached via the Waipori River from Berwick by boats, which have a shallow bottom and shallow draft, or by jet boats . The lake is too shallow for normal motor boats.
