Lallingen ( French : Lallange ; lux . : Lalleng ) is a district in the town of Esch-sur-Alzette in the northeast of the municipality.

Lallingen was already a small town or a collection of houses in the pre-industrial times and thus differs from other districts of Esch-sur-Alzette, which only emerged later with industrialization . According to the map drawn by Joseph von Ferraris (lux .: Ferrariskaart ), Lallingen was where the ARBED - Schifflingen rolling mill was later built. According to this map, the Lallinger Mountains (lux .: Lallengerbierg ) also belong to it.

However, urban development in Lallingen did not begin until after the Second World War , when Esch-sur-Alzette continued to expand due to its good economic development. In the 1950s, as in Bruch and Raemerech, new quarters emerged in Lallingen.

Until modern times Lallingen belonged to the Berwart rule and not to Esch an der Alzette.

A relevant body of water in Lallingen is the Dipbech .

traffic

In the Grand Duchy, the development of motorway projects did not begin until the late 1960s. The first section of the A4 was opened in 1969 between Steinbrücken and Lallingen. After this first section, the motorway network in Luxembourg was gradually expanded (see also: List of motorways in Luxembourg ).
