Lambda Istanbul is an association of gay and bisexual men and women as well as transvestites and transsexuals in Turkey .

According to its own account, the organization was founded in 1993 when the Governor of Istanbul banned Christopher Street Day . The group, which was founded under the name Gökkuşağı (Rainbow), was called Lambda Istanbul from then on . Since this year, Lamda Istanbul has been organizing various activities called "Honor Week" ( Onur Haftası ) every year . In 2003, in Istanbul , the organization organized the first large demonstration of homosexuals. A short-term ban on the interest group in May 2008 sparked a wave of protests from supporters across Europe and was lifted by the Turkish Supreme Court.

The motto of the organization is “Ne yanlış ne de yalnızsınız”, which means something like “You are neither wrong nor alone”.

Among the leading members was Ebru Soykan , who was murdered in 2009.
