Lamberto Donati

Lamberto Donati (born July 8, 1890 in Rome , † July 16, 1982 ibid) was an Italian book scholar and librarian .

After completing his studies, Donati joined the Vatican Library , where he had been curator of the collection of old prints since 1921. He also worked as a lecturer at the Vatican Library School. As a book scholar, Donati has presented numerous publications on the history of books, especially in the 15th and 16th centuries, with an emphasis on book illustration . One of his most important works is a bibliography of miniatures ( Bibliografia della miniatura ), which was published in 1972 in two volumes by the Olschki publishing house in Florence. He has written numerous articles for internationally renowned magazines such as La Bibliofilia and the Gutenberg Yearbook .
