Lamin B. Dibba

Lamin B. Dibba (* 20th century) is a politician in the West African state of Gambia . From February 1, 2017 to March 16, 2019, he was Minister of Forestry, Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources in the Adama Barrow cabinet .

Life

Dibba is involved in the National Convention Party (NCP). He previously worked as director for NGO affairs in the Ministry of the Interior. On February 1, 2017, the newly elected President Adama Barrow appointed Dibba to his cabinet as Minister of Forest and Environment .

On March 16, 2020, Dibba was dismissed from office by President Barrow, along with other ministers who were believed to be confidantes of the dismissed Vice President Ousainou Darboe .

criticism

The Washington, DC- based environmental organization, the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA), released covert footage of timber traders in the Gambia alleging that Dibba was directly involved in the illegal trade in rosewood . The protected precious wood trees would be felled in neighboring Senegal , smuggled to Gambia and exported to China with Dibba's knowledge. Dibba denied all allegations.
