Nicol Delago (born January 5, 1996 in Brixen ) is an Italian ski racer . The South Tyrolean is particularly successful in the fast downhill and Super-G disciplines . Her younger sister Nadia is also a ski racer.

biography

Delago first took part in FIS races from December 2011 at the age of 15 . In February 2013 she was a participant in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Brașov . In the same month she won the Italian junior downhill championship. Her first appearance in the European Cup followed on December 12, 2013. She collected her first European Cup points four days later when she finished 26th in the downhill from St. Moritz . Two weeks after she can an FIS races for the first time to win, she gave on 24 January 2015 her debut in the World Cup and drove in the downhill in St. Moritz at No. 43. The World Youth Championship 2015 in Hafjell she won the Downhill bronze medal.

Delago achieved World Cup points for the first time on December 18, 2015, with 17th place in the combination of Val-d'Isère . In the winter of 2015/16 she established herself with several top 10 results in the European Cup, including a third place in the downhill run from Altenmarkt-Zauchensee on January 14, 2016. At the Junior World Championships 2016 in Sochi , she repeated her success from the previous year and won another downhill bronze medal. In the 2016/17 World Cup season , Delago finished in the points five times, with ninth place being by far her best result. The best World Cup result in winter 2017/18 was an eleventh place. She took part in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , but retired there in the downhill.

After a fifth place at the beginning of the 2018/19 World Cup season , Delago achieved the first World Cup podium on December 18, 2018 when she finished second behind Ilka Štuhec on the downhill run from Val Gardena .
