Lampteros

Lampteros ( ancient Greek Λαμπτῆρός ) is an epiclesis of the Greek god Dionysus , with whom he was worshiped in the Achaean city ​​of Pellene .

Dionysus Lampterus had a sanctuary in Pellene, which was opposite the sanctuary of Artemis Soteira . In his honor, the Lampteria were celebrated annually, where a torch relay was held. The nickname is derived from λαμπτήρ ( lampter ), which was used to describe the mounting of torches on the walls.
