Lan Caihe

Lan Caihe ( Chinese  藍 采 和 , W.-G. Lan Ts'ai-ho ), also Lan Cai He , is a famous Daoist immortal in Chinese mythology . He belongs to the group of the Eight Immortals ( Ba xian ).

According to legend, Lan Caihe was believed to be a transvestite and is sometimes depicted as a woman and sometimes as a man. He embodies the outcast and the mad. Since he is traditionally represented with a flower basket , he is considered the patron saint of florists.
