Cao Guojiu

Cao Guojiu ( Chinese  曹國舅 , W.-G. Ts'ao Kuo Chiu ) is a famous Daoist immortal in Chinese mythology . He belongs to the group of the Eight Immortals .

Cao Guojiu was reportedly a relative of the Song Dynasty imperial family . His younger brother was so powerful that no one could harm him, even when he committed murder. Cao Guojiu was so ashamed of this that he left his office and the palace and went to the hermitage. There he attained immortal status.

He is depicted with castanets and a jade tablet that allows access to the imperial court.

Cao Guojiu is the patron saint of actors.
