Lana Wood (born March 1, 1946 in Santa Monica , California ; actually Svetlana Nikolaevna Gurdin ) is an American actress and producer.

Life

Lana Wood's parents, Nikolai Zakharenko and Maria geb. Zudilovaya, were Russian emigrants who grew up far from their homeland. Father Nikolai in Vancouver and mother Maria in China. After their marriage, the parents moved to Santa Monica, California. Here Lana was born under the name Svetlana Nikolaevna Gurdin , since by that time her parents had legally changed her family name to Gurdin. Since her older sister Natalia Nikolayevna Zakharenko had the stage name Natalie Wood , Lana took over the name Wood.

Lana Wood had her first film role as a 10-year-old in the western The Black Falcon . Her sister Natalie plays the role of Debbie Edwards in this film , Lana played Debbie Edwards as a child.

Once in April 1971 photographs of Lana Wood in Playboy had been published, she received the role of Plenty O'Toole in the 1971 published James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever (Diamonds Are Forever) . The character she plays is thrown into a swimming pool at the instigation of Bond's opponent.

In 2004, the American director Peter Bogdanovich filmed Natalie Wood's life story with the South African Justine Waddell in the leading role under the title The Mystery of Natalie Wood . Lana Wood co-produced the film.

Lana Wood has been married five times and has one daughter.
