The State Youth Symphony Orchestra Saar (LJO Saar) is the State Youth Orchestra of the Saarland .

The orchestra

The orchestra is an institution of the Landesmusikrat Saar and is a follow-up measure to the Jugend musiziert competition . In two annual work and concert phases (Easter and autumn holidays), symphonic compositions of all styles are worked out.

The musicians between the ages of 14 and 20 must successfully complete a recording game to participate. After rehearsing the registers for each instrument group, the entire orchestra rehearses a full concert in one week.

history

The LJO Saar was founded in 1982 by Gerhard Pauly. In addition to many appearances in Saarland, the orchestra undertakes concert tours abroad, including France , Luxembourg , Belgium , Italy , Yugoslavia , Hungary , Romania , Czechoslovakia , United Kingdom , Austria , the Netherlands , Russia , Chile and Canada .

A large number of soloists have performed with the orchestra, including Paul Badura-Skoda , Thomas Duis and Gustav Rivinius .
