Gustav Rivinius

Gustav Rivinius (* 1965 in Saarland ) is a German cellist and professor for violoncello at the Musikhochschule in Saarbrücken .

biography

Gustav Rivinius began his cello studies at the age of six with Hermann Dirr in Munich. He later studied for several years in Saarbrücken with Ulrich Voss and Claus Kanngiesser, then with David Geringas in Lübeck , with Zara Nelsova at the Juilliard School in New York and most recently with Heinrich Schiff in Basel . There he completed his studies with a soloist diploma.

Gustav Rivinius won numerous national and international competitions. After winning the International Tchaikovsky Competition , which was awarded to a German musician for the first time, numerous concert appearances followed in major music metropolises in Europe, Japan, Mexico and the USA.

Some of the orchestras with which Gustav Rivinius has performed are: Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra Washington, Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, Berlin Symphony Orchestra , Moscow Philharmonic, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra , Bamberg Symphony , Radio Orchestra Stockholm, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra , Czech Philharmonic , MDR Symphony Orchestra (Leipzig) a. a.

Gustav Rivinius also devotes himself to chamber music. He is a guest at numerous music festivals, such as B. the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont / USA, where he played with musicians like Rudolf Serkin and members of the Guarneri Quartet and the Beaux Arts Trio .

In the meantime his first CD with sonatas by Brahms, Boccherini and BA Zimmermann has been released. In 1993 he recorded all of Ludwig van Beethoven's cello sonatas for WDR . In 1995 he produced Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's Cello Concerto . Between 2001 and 2009 he worked several times as a lecturer at Villa Musica .
