The Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft Thüringen mbH (LEG Thüringen) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Free State of Thuringia . She supports the Thuringian Ministry of Economics . Founded in 1992, it now takes on tasks in the field of property management , location development, business development and broadband expansion. LEG Thuringia has its headquarters in Erfurt and operates throughout Thuringia.

LEG's main task is the development of Thuringia as a business and technology location. As an economic developer, it promotes Thuringia as a location and acquires domestic and foreign investors . It supports investors willing to settle in the Free State and offers companies free services such as location advice and authority management. LEG also supports and accompanies the international activities of Thuringian companies. In addition, she oversees technology clusters in Thuringia, determines technological potential and promotes the industrial exploitation of innovations.

With the “ Thuringian Agency for Skilled Workers ” (ThAFF), LEG Thüringen is the contact for questions about securing and recruiting skilled workers in the Free State.

One of the other tasks of LEG Thuringia is site development. This includes decontaminating , refurbishing, developing and marketing locations that were previously used for industrial or military purposes . These properties are given priority (again) for commercial use; However, it can also be used as a residential location or renaturation - as in the example of the former Kindel military training area in the Hainich National Park . In addition to the developed old locations, LEG Thüringen markets other properties, including residential building land, which it develops and sells to citizens.

In cooperation with the municipalities, LEG supports urban and regional development projects: As a recognized redevelopment agency, it supports the municipalities in urban development.

The Thuringia Broadband Competence Center has been in charge of the Thuringia Online broadband initiative since 2009 .

In October 2019, LEG created a coordination office for transformation issues in the Thuringian automotive industry.
