State House of the Province of Silesia
The State House of the Province of Silesia is a parliament and administrative building in Breslau , which was built between 1893 and 1896 for the Provincial Parliament , the legislative body of the Prussian Province of Silesia .
Equipment and architecture
The facade of the representative neo-baroque building is made of sandstone and has rich ornamental decorations. On both sides of the main portal there are stone atlases created by the sculptor Christian Behrens , the large Silesian eagle coat of arms sits above the door.
The large meeting room of the state house was modeled on the Reichstag meeting room in Berlin . The hall's huge chandelier was fitted with 200 light bulbs. The atrium under the dome, in which state acts were repeatedly held during the Third Reich , as well as important exhibitions, was also impressive .
The Landeshaus survived the Second World War almost undamaged. Since 1945 it has been the seat of the Supreme Technical Organization (Polish: Naczelna Organizacja Techniczna ).
