State Youth Orchestra of Thuringia

The State Youth Orchestra of Thuringia ( LJO Thuringia for short ) is a symphony orchestra from Thuringia . It represents a support measure of the state for young musicians. It unites young instrumentalists of the Free State to a large symphony orchestra. The instrumentalists are between 12 and 22 years old and have mostly very successfully participated in the nationwide youth music competition and regional competitions.

In two to three rehearsal phases per year, each lasting 7 to 14 days, great symphonic works of all styles are rehearsed. At the end of each work phase, several concerts are held in Germany or, if traveling abroad, in larger cities in the country visited. A trip abroad is carried out once a year.

Twice a year find auditions in Weimar place / Thuringia.

  • 2006: Trip to Estonia and joint project with the State Youth Choir Thuringia
  • 2007: trip to Romania
  • 2008: Partner of the “1. ARENA for Sustainability ”at the Zeulenroda organic hotel
  • June 2010: World premiere of the work Gloria for the 20th anniversary of the State Music Council of Thuringia
  • 2012: Trip to St. Petersburg ( Russia )
  • 2015: trip to Strasbourg ( France )
