The Stockerau Regional Clinic is a hospital in Stockerau run by the Lower Austrian Regional Clinic Holding .

history

The first hospital in Stockerau is mentioned in 1529 and in the middle of the 16th century a citizens' hospital was built on the basis of a decree by Emperor Ferdinand I.

Old hospital and current nursing home (from 1995)

Today's hospital goes back to the testamentary provision, whereupon, after the death of the owner Josef Martin Röger in 1770, the house in his possession was to be rededicated into a hospital and administered by the community. In 1780 this hospital became a public hospital, making it accessible to everyone.

By a contract signed on March 1, 1875, the sisters of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Divine Savior took over both the management and the care of the house. Due to a lack of young people, the remaining 14 sisters were withdrawn in 1975.

In 1909 and 1910, the hospital was expanded to include a two-story extension with an operating theater, an infection pavilion, a morgue and a farm building, and the number of beds doubled from 36 to 72. The hospital expanded in this way was named Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Jubiläums-Krankenhaus .

Another expansion took place in 1925 and 1926. In 1940, three barracks were set up in the hospital garden to make room for victims of the Second World War .

After an extension with 180 beds was built in 1954, the outdated building technology was renovated between 1969 and 1972 and brought up to date .

In 1976 it was decided to establish a nursing school. The first year of this school opened on October 11th of the same year with 18 students.

After five years of planning and construction, the newly built Stockerau Hospital was put into operation on February 22, 1991.

Either in February 1999 or in October 2000 the Korneuburg-Stockerau Hospital Association was founded, which went into operation in January 2002 as a public corporation and from February 2003 operated under the name Humanis Klinikum Lower Austria .

On January 1, 2007, it was taken over by the State of Lower Austria as the Stockerau State Hospital.
