Mistelbach State Hospital

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The State Clinic Mistelbach is a hospital run by the Lower Austrian State Clinic Holding at Liechtensteinstrasse 67 in Mistelbach .

history

The foundation stone was laid on Leopold's Day (November 15) in 1908, and in 1909 the district hospital for surgery and internal medicine with 43 beds, two doctors and six nurses was inaugurated. In 1915 the west wing and the farm buildings were added, and the east wing followed in 1917. After the hospital almost closed in 1913 due to major financial problems, the infection department was established in 1928. In 1937 the hospital received a further four-story wing. The hospital thus had 190 beds, a hospital chapel and living rooms for doctors and nurses.

On March 28, 1941, the governor of Niederdonau dissolved the hospital association and the hospital was taken over by the Mistelbach district. As the front approached, the hospital became a main first aid station in 1945 and a refuge for women and girls on April 18 of the same year when Mistelbach was occupied by the Red Army . On April 21, the hospital had to be cleared within a few hours in order to be used by the Red Army as a first aid station until May 10. An emergency hospital was set up in the town hall of Mistelbach.

Since the Mistelbach Hospital was officially without legal entity after the end of the war, the District Captain of the Mistelbach District was appointed curator and a provisional administrative committee was convened. This "permanent provisional arrangement" existed until December 31, 1973. It was ended with the establishment of the community association as a new legal entity. After the nursing school and the TB tract had been built in 1951, further construction work followed between 1955 and 1956: the infection building was increased, apartments for nurses were created and further construction work was carried out.

Up to the present day there have been extensions that either served to cover the needs (1998: completion of the new central sterilization , December 1998: handover of a combined heat and power plant by EVN , 2000: start of construction for additional bed and functional wing) or by expanding the medical services ( September 1983: opening of a dialysis station , January 1990: commissioning of the second computer tomograph in Lower Austria after the St. Pölten State Hospital ). On January 1, 2005, the legal entity was assigned to the state of Lower Austria.

Renovation work began in 2011 and was completed with partial openings of three blocks in February 2019.
