The ducal state credit institution Meiningen was a state credit institute in the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen .

history

The Landeskreditanstalt Meiningen was founded on August 25, 1849 by an ordinance of Duke Bernhard II in Meiningen . The seat was in the landscape building on Meininger Markt. The Landeskreditanstalt was a state institute with an independent cash desk and cash administration and continued to enjoy the rights of the state treasury. The business area was initially aimed at promoting agriculture and trade by granting low-interest loans to private individuals and municipalities, for example for the relief of landlord burdens, after emergencies and accidents or for the discharge of debts . Furthermore, the credit institute offered entrepreneurs and cash management companies the opportunity to invest disposable funds in securities . The Landeskreditanstalt granted loans in 2035 by 1853, and in 1855 there were 4,354 loans. The Landeskreditanstalt soon also acted as a mortgage bank for the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen.

In 1863, the Landeskreditanstalt moved into a new building on Charlottenstrasse by the Englischer Garten in the direct vicinity of Deutsche Hypothekenbank and Mitteldeutsche Creditbank . In 1923 the Landeskreditanstalt Meiningen merged into a branch of the Thuringian State Bank and took its seat in the Kleiner Palais on Bernhardstrasse . From 1946 to 1950 it belonged to the Landeskreditbank Thuringia. The managing directors included the bankers Ludwig Blomeyer (1849–1861), Georg Wilhelm Sebaldt (1866–1896), Andreas Cronacher (1896–1900) and W. Jahn (1900–1915).
