The State Museum Jonava ( lit.Jonavos krašto muziejus ) is a regional museum in Jonava ( Lithuania ). It is located in the center of the city on Jonas Basanavičius Street. 3.

history

The museum is located in the former Jonava post office , built in the 19th century.

In 1987 the exhibition "Old Jonava" ("Senoji Jonava") was organized in the building of the pre-war high school. In 1989 the council of the Rajonggemeinde Jonava for a new museum built the rooms (the house of B. Garmus) where the Jonavas Regional Museum was officially opened on August 1st, 1989. The founder and current director is history teacher Regina Karaliūnienė (* 1949). The museum has been located in the current building since 1992. Exhibitions and other events are organized in the museum. The exhibits form of cultural goods, pictures, photo negatives, audio library , film library , video library , posters , Philately , Numismatics etc.
