State pavilion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The state pavilion Baden-Württemberg was built for the Federal Garden Show in 1977 on the edge of the central palace garden in Stuttgart . It served as an event and communication center supported by the state of Baden-Württemberg and had the aim of "conveying cultural and civic information in a popular way".

Every year 250 to 400 events took place in the pavilion, including exhibitions, concerts and theater performances, especially by amateurs and amateur actors. The state pavilion was programmatically subordinate to the State Ministry , then to the Ministry of Culture and, with regard to budget and technology, to the State Trade Office.

In the early 1990s, funding became difficult and the state pavilion was offered to the city of Stuttgart. The then cultural mayor refused. In 1996 two restaurateurs took over the vacant building. A sponsoring association organized film and theater events.

In the course of the construction work on Stuttgart 21 , the building with the eye-catching yellow tent roof was demolished in August 2012.
