The Dürerquelle is a stratified spring near Kalchreuth in the Central Franconian district of Erlangen-Höchstadt in Bavaria .
location
The small spring is located in the Sebalder Reichswald in the community-free area of Dormitzer Forst . It rises about 1.5 kilometers west of Kalchreuth at about 351 m above sea level. NHN.
The source is part of the EU bird sanctuary area Nürnberger Reichswald (FFH No. DE-6533-471; WDPA No. 555537802).
history
The source was named after the Nuremberg painter Albrecht Dürer . According to tradition, Dürer was inspired to create his pen drawing Quelle im Wald with Antonius and Paulus here in 1502 . In 2010 the source catchment was restored by the Nuremberg Forestry Company and the local recreation area Sebalder Reichswald eV.
