Dormitz Forest

The Dormitzer Forest is a community-free area in the Central Franconian district of Erlangen-Höchstadt .

The 10.17 km² large state forest is the part of the Nuremberg Reich Forest to the southwest of Dormitz . In it is located north of the Kreuzweiher the Bannwald Monument, which reminds of the declaration of the Sebalder Reichswald as a Bannwald . The connecting road Weiher - Kalchreuth (state road 2243) runs through the forest. At 401 meters, the Winterleite is the highest point in the forest. In it is u. a. the Dürer spring , the Jungfernsitz (an unusual rock formation) and the Sambach pond ( fish farming ). The Leaking Rock is an unusual rock from which water is constantly dripping. In reality, the rock is supplied with water almost imperceptibly above ground.
