Federal spokesman

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Federal spokesman is the statutory designation of the party leader at the federal level of some German and Austrian parties . It expresses the like -among-equals principle. The corresponding function at the state level is called the state spokesperson .

The expression is used in Austria - in distinction to party chairman in socialist parlance and party chairman among the bourgeoisie - by the Greens (Die Grünen - Die Grüne Alternative, GRÜNE) , the Liberal Forum (LIF) , as well as the Pirate Party of Austria (PPÖ) .

In Germany, among the larger parties, there is the designation "Federal Spokesman" for several party leaders with equal rights in the Alternative for Germany (AfD). At the SPD , many working groups and forums have federal spokesmen, at the party Die Linke in their youth organization and at the Green Youth the chairmen are called “federal spokesmen”. Historically, there were also federal spokesmen for the German Greens, z. B. Jan Kuhnert or Gert Bastian .

The term is also widely used in other party-affiliated or non-partisan organizations, such as the student council lists of Austria  (FLÖ, student group in the ÖH ) or the Forum Democratic Socialism  (fds, network of the German Die Linke).
