from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Landgasthof Saalburg (also called Saalburgrestaurant ) is a restaurant in the Dornholzhausen district of Bad Homburg vor der Höhe . The restaurant is near the Saalburg Roman fort . The building is listed under the Hessian Monument Protection Act .

history

At the height of the Saalburg Pass there was a horse changing station on the border between the Landgraviate of Hessen-Homburg and the Principality of Nassau-Usingen in the 17th and 18th centuries . In 1871 the horse changing station was converted into a restaurant with Victorian style elements . The architect Louis Jacobi , who was also responsible for the reconstruction of the Saalburg Fort, was involved in the renovation . The interior design is still essentially in the style of the turn of the century. In 2013 the house was added to the list of monuments. This was preceded by research for a contribution to historical inns in Hesse - Enjoying in the monument as part of the series Bilderbogen of the Hessischer Rundfunk . As part of this research, the art historian Silke Klose-Klatte found that part of the interior of the restaurant, especially the niche at the entrance, dates from the time of the German Empire .
