Country House (2012)

The country house is a listed secular building in Niedermarsberg , a district of Marsberg in the Hochsauerland ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The house, also popularly known as Villa de Vries , or Waldhaus Emilie , is a single-storey natural stone block with a slate roof and ancillary buildings. It was built in 1921 according to plans by Heinrich Straumer . The client was an Amsterdam businessman who was married in Marsberg. The deliberately simple construction in an English country style was a big, fünfbahniges bay window in the manner of a bow window stressed. The house is integrated into the landscape through clever terracing in the slope and clear design, as well as the choice of materials.

It has been entered in the list of monuments of the city of Marsberg since June 27, 1997 .
