Landnámssetur
The Landnámssetur is a private museum in the town of Borgarnes in Iceland .
Location and opening
The museum was founded by the actor and musician Kjartan Ragnarsson , the son of the sculptor Ragnar Kjartansson , and opened on May 13, 2006.
It is located in the westernmost part of the village near the island of Brákarey, which is connected to the mainland by a bridge . An old warehouse, Pakhúsið , has been converted and restored for this purpose.
Main topics
The museum, which also the English name Settlement Center performs shows in a large part of the exhibition in words, images, animations and maps the colonization of Iceland (isl. Landnáma ).
Another part of the museum deals with the Egill saga , which is set in the Borgarnes area.
