Bettenburg Landscape Park

The Bettenburg Landscape Park is a park near the Bettenburg in Lower Franconia .

Geographical location

The Bettenburg Landscape Park is located between the municipalities of Hofheim in Lower Franconia and Manau, approx. 1 km west of the Bettenburg .

history

The landscape park was commissioned by Baron Christian Dietrich Truchseß von Wetzhausen in 1789. It can also be seen in connection with the Bettenburger Round Table , in which the baron gathered intellectuals in a romantic spirit. Among them, for example, the poet Friedrich Rückert . In this context one speaks of a “Franconian Weimar”.

The sculptures in the landscape park take on transfiguring references to the German past.
