The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan . The LSG was designated as a type B landscape planning area, peripheral locations, open land and cultivated land protection. There are agricultural open land areas in the LSG.

Protection purpose

The designation was carried out to ensure the diversity and uniqueness of the landscape in the vicinity of the localities and the old agricultural priority areas by keeping it open. Also because of its special importance for recreation.

As in the other landscape protection areas in the city, the LSG prohibits building structures. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry are exempt from the ban. The Lower Nature Conservation Authority can issue exceptional permits for buildings of all kinds. As in the other type B landscape protection areas in Meschede, the LSG prohibits initial afforestation and the creation of Christmas trees , ornamental branches and tree nurseries . There is a requirement to keep the LSG free of woodland through agricultural use or suitable maintenance measures.
