Fauler Bruch / Hemmeker Bruch landscape protection area
The conservation area Lazy break / Hemmeker fraction is 96.6 ha large landscape conservation area (LSG) north of Madfeld in the city of Brilon . The area was designated in 2002 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . In the north it goes to the city and district borders. In LSG is the nature reserve Revel / Wolf Knapp . In the northeast it borders on the Hemmeker Bruch nature reserve .

The Fauler Bruch / Hemmeker Bruch landscape protection area is grassland and a smaller arable area. There are two former fish ponds in the Prinzknapp area. Two small, nameless streams run in the LSG.
Protection purpose
The designation was made to maintain, supplement and optimize a grassland biotope network system in the floodplains and the lean grassland communities in the nature reserves , so that animals and plants can keep migrating and spreading, and the preservation of the occurrence of protected bird species and the protection of species-rich plant communities.
Legal framework
The Fauler Bruch / Hemmeker Bruch landscape protection area was designated as a type C landscape protection area. In the urban area of Brilon there are also landscape protection areas of LSG type A, general landscape protection , where, among other things, the erection of buildings is prohibited. Furthermore, landscape protection areas of LSG type B, outskirts and landscape character , where in addition first afforestation and also the creation of new Christmas tree cultures, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures are prohibited. As in the other type C landscape protection areas, the LSG also prohibits the conversion of grassland and fallow land into arable land or other forms of use. A maximum of two years of arable use within twelve years is permitted, provided that this prepares the renewal of the sward. This is considered an extended nursing shift . In the case of the extended care break , a minimum distance of 5 m from the central water bed must be maintained.
Nature conservation activities in the Prinzknapp area
In the Prinzknapp area , the Association for Nature and Bird Conservation in the Hochsauerlandkreis (VNV) bought a fallow fish pond and grassland areas. An unused hut by the pond was dismantled and disposed of by the landscape maintenance team from the Hochsauerlandkreis Biological Station . The grassland is grazed by the VNV with its own red high cattle. The VNV repeatedly carries out work assignments in the NSG. In particular, old fences were dismantled and new ones built. Woods were repeatedly removed along the nameless stream in order to create or maintain more open structures.
