The 117.5 hectare large conservation area Felderbachtal / Paasbachtal / Deilbachtal is cross-border in the two county's cities Hattingen and Sprockhövel the Ennepe-Ruhr district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was set up in 1998 in the course of drawing up the landscape plan for the Ennepe-Ruhr district and has the serial number 3.2.19 in the partial plan for the Hattingen / Sprockhövel area.

geography

In the protected area there are extensive stream valleys with mostly natural meandering Felderbach and Paasbach . Long stretches of the streams are accompanied by a relatively natural wooded border. The main wood is the black alder ( Alnus glutinosa ). The floodplains are mainly used relatively extensively as hay meadows or pasture land, even on wet areas. In the Felderbachtal at the level of Elfringhauser Straße an area is used for growing vegetables, in some areas there are smaller alder forests.

Protective purpose because of the extensive floodplains used as grassland, which together with the woody stands on the brook have a high networking function, the naturally meandering streams, the near-natural, ecologically significant riparian wooded areas with partially old wood, the wet, often only extensively used grassland areas. Also because of the peculiarity and beauty of the valley meadows and because of the special importance of the Felderbach valley in particular for recreation. Cycle paths running along the edge of the valley are part of the cycle path network in Elfringhauser Switzerland .
