The nature reserve Hallenberger Waldlandschaft with 2,135.30 hectares is located in the city area Hallenberg . The area was on 15 September 2004 with the landscape plan Hallenberg by the Hochsauerlandkreis as a conservation area designated (LSG). Most of the LSG is located in the western part of the city in the Hallenberg Forest. The 875.50 hectare Hallenberger Wald nature reserve is also located in this forest area . There are also scattered areas in other parts of Hallenberg, with larger areas north of Braunshausen .

The LSG Hallenberger Waldlandschaft was designated as LSG Type A, General Landscape Protection.

Legal regulations

Initial afforestation and also the new planting of Christmas tree cultures, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures are subject to official approval from the Lower Landscape Authority . As in the other type A landscape protection areas, the LSG prohibits building structures. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry, the public supply of electricity, gas, telecommunications services, heat and water, wastewater management or an existing adjacent commercial operation are excluded from the ban ( Section 35 (1) No. 1 and 2 of the Building Code ). The construction of wind turbines and hydropower plants is also permitted with a building permit.
