The Obere Senne landscape protection area with 2422.89  hectares is located in the Paderborn district . The landscape conservation area (LSG) was designated in 1989 by the district council with the Senneland landscape plan. The LSG consists of six sub-areas which are often divided by roads such as the A 33.

description

The LSG includes forest and open land areas in the cities of Paderborn and Hövelhof . These are the areas of Kattenheide , Neuenrieger Heide , Hövelhofer Wald , Sande Nord , Sennelager Nord and Wilhelmsberg .

In the open country, there are grassland and arable land with field trees, hedges, rows of trees, groups of trees and individual trees. In the Hövelhofer forest there are dry and moist pine forest communities, heaths, alder-broken and alder-ash floodplains. Rare plant and animal species can be found in this forest area. There is a complex of dunes on the Wilhelmsberg.

In the LSG, it is forbidden to reforest hardwood stands or stands with a predominantly hardwood content with more than 50 percent softwood. Coniferous forest stands may not be reforested as pure coniferous forest stands.
