Karlshus is a village in the Norwegian municipality of Råde , located in the province ( Fylke ) Viken . The place is the administrative center of Råde and has 2271 inhabitants (as of 2019).
geography
Karlshus is a so-called Tettsted , i.e. a settlement that is counted as one area for statistical purposes. The place is centrally located in the municipality of Råde, which is in southeastern Norway. Lake Vansjø lies in the north of Karlshus .
The European route 6 (E6) leads past the village , which connects to Moss , Sarpsborg and Oslo . The Riksvei 110, which leads to Fredrikstad , crosses the E6 at Karlshus. There is also Råde train station in the village, which is served by trains on the Østfoldbanen .
history
Until the end of 2019, the place belonged to the Fylke Østfold , which was transferred to the newly created province of Viken on January 1, 2020 as part of the regional reform in Norway .
In the east of Karlshus is the Råde kirke, a stone church from 1185.
economy
The wood industry, among other things, plays an important role in the local economy. There is also a mill in Karlshus.
