The nature reserve Offenland southeast of Brilon with 455.97  hectares is located south, southeast and east of the core city of Brilon . The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the landscape plan of the Brilon plateau . The LSG goes to the settlement area. The Almetalbahn , the B 7 and the B 251 run through the LSG. The LSG is used almost entirely for agriculture. Here, grassland areas predominate as use. The Brilon golf course is also located in the LSG. The LSG almost completely encloses the landscape protection area Grünlandkomplex am Frettholz and completely the nature protection area Ammertenbühl . Other NSG and LSG are directly adjacent to this LSG.

LSG type and regulations

The LSG open land areas southwest of Brilon was designated as one of 22 landscape protection areas of type B, peripheral locations and landscape character . There are also four type A landscape protection areas (general landscape protection) and 53 type C landscape protection areas (meadow valleys and significant extensive grassland) with different requirements in the urban area . The LSG partly borders directly on the settlement area of ​​Brilon.

Among other things, the construction of buildings is prohibited in the LSG. First afforestation, the new planting of Christmas tree cultures, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures are also prohibited.

Commandments

According to the expulsion, various commandments have been set. The LSG is to be kept free of forest through agricultural use and maintenance measures. Fallow areas are to be mowed in sections every three years to prevent encroachment. Mowing must not take place before August 1st in order not to destroy broods. When mowing, the cuttings must be transported away. If necessary, fruit trees should be replanted on orchards. Dead fruit trees are to be left as habitat trees. The hedges are to be put on the floor every ten to 15 years, with individual trees being left in place. The hedge work may only be carried out from October 1st to February 28th.
