The Prierberg landscape protection area with 25.88  hectares is located in the urban area of Marsberg and in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan . The LSG was designated as a type B landscape planning area, peripheral locations, open land and cultivated land protection. It is north of Udorf and goes up to the state border of North Rhine-Westphalia.

description

The southern area of the Prierberg is located in the LSG. The lower slope is mainly used as arable land. There is grassland on the shallow crest. The LSG is structured by a few edges and a small sieve trough with loose field vegetation. An LB is located in the LSG southwest of the Prierberg summit.

Protection purpose

The designation was carried out to ensure the diversity and uniqueness of the landscape in the vicinity of the localities and the old agricultural priority areas by keeping it open. Also because of its special importance for recreation.

Legal regulations

As in the other landscape protection areas in the urban area, the LSG prohibits the construction of structures. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry are exempt from the ban. The Lower Nature Conservation Authority can issue exceptional permits for buildings of all kinds. As in the other type B landscape protection areas in Meschede, the LSG prohibits initial afforestation and the creation of Christmas trees , ornamental branches and tree nurseries . There is a requirement to keep the LSG free of woodland through agricultural use or suitable maintenance measures.
