Landscape protection area of the Kahler Asten ski area
The landscape protection area of the ski area Kahler Asten with 4.64 hectares is located in the urban area of Winterberg on the north and north-west slopes of the Kahler Asten . The conservation area ski Kahler Asten in 2008 with the landscape plan Winterberg by the Hochsauerlandkreis as a conservation area designated (LSG). The area consists of two sub-areas. The two sub-areas are the parts of the northern slope ( Lage ) and Sahnehang ( Lage ) ski slopes , which in 2006 were designated by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the FFH area (DE 4816-303) Kahler Asten with a size of 53 ha were.
Protection purpose
The Kahler Asten ski area conservation area was designated as one of 13 type C conservation areas, meadow valleys and significant extensive grassland. As in the other 12 type C landscape protection areas in the Winterberg landscape planning area, there is a ban on converting grassland and fallow grassland into arable land or other forms of use in the LSG ski area Kahler Asten . Planting Christmas trees, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures is also prohibited.
On the protected ski slopes, use as a ski slope has led to the establishment of poor grassland with transitions to dwarf shrub heather. According to the landscape plan, a designation as a nature reserve was waived because of the decades of winter sports use , although the area contains protected biotopes according to § 30 BNatSchG .
The designation was made to supplement the nature reserve designation in the Winterberg floodplains to create a network of open-land biotopes so that animals and plants retain the opportunity to migrate and spread, and to preserve the occurrence of protected bird species and protect species-rich plant communities.
