The Stoppelberg landscape protection area with an area of ​​454.87  ha is located in the area of ​​the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The landscape protection area (LSG) was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen.

The LSG borders directly on the A 45 in the southwest . The Deipenbrink nature reserve borders in the south . In the east and north, the protected area extends to the development in the Nahmerbachtal and Hohenlimburg . To the west is the Egge nature reserve .

In the LSG there are mainly forest areas that are crossed by stream valleys. South of the “Hohenlimburg” castle complex is the medieval hill fort “ Sieben Gräben ”, of which the remains of the fortifications are still there. This facility is designated as a cultural monument. The Hohenlimburg Castle is a structural facility in the landscape protection area.

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, the designation was made “to maintain and restore the efficiency of the natural balance, in particular because of the occurrence of valuable forest communities with natural habitats, because of the diversity, uniqueness and beauty of the wooded and very moving landscape and because of the special importance of the area for those looking to experience nature oriented recreational use ".
