The area was designated in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . Most of the LSG is to the east and southwest of the village. description

In the Vor der Egge nature reserve there is almost only grassland . The LSG is home to the largest orchards in the Hochsauerland district. To preserve the fruit trees, they must not be felled. The area extends in an arch on the southern edge of the Egge Mountains in the catchment area of the Dahlbach valley system. In the north the L 636 borders, in the south the area is closed by the Dahlbach. It is a south-facing slope on a lime-rich substrate with grassland use, usually orchards with old trees. The grassland is partly used as a hay meadow, cattle or horse pasture or garden. There are hedges and individual bushes between the individual meadow sections. The slope, which falls to the south, has a richly structured relief due to dry valleys and embankments, which is further subdivided by the hedges, bushes and trees, so that a varied landscape is created. There are two dry spring areas within the area. The areas used as pastures each have shelters, some meadows have barns and piles of wood. The meadows are moderately fertilized, at the edges there are isolated signs of leanness. In the north-eastern area there is a narrow section of lean grassland on shallow ground. The small-scale, structurally rich grassland with numerous small and fringing biotopes as well as the old fruit trees and interlocking hedges and gardens determine the value. They result in a varied cultural landscape complex. The traditional rural use and division of the grassland with a direct connection to the village is of cultural and historical value.

Legal framework

The landscape protection area Vor der Egge was designated as one of 30 landscape planning areas of type C, meadow valleys and ornithologically significant open land . In the Marsberg landscape plan area, there are also three landscape protection areas of LSG type A, general landscape protection , where, among other things, the construction of buildings is prohibited. Furthermore, 17 landscape protection areas of LSG type B, outskirts and landscape character , where additional first afforestation and also the planting of Christmas tree cultures, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures are prohibited. As in the other 29 type C landscape protection areas in the Marsberg landscape planning area, the LSG landscape protection area Vor der Egge is also prohibited from converting grassland and fallow grassland into arable land or other forms of use. A maximum of two years of arable use within twelve years is permitted, provided that this prepares the renewal of the sward. This is considered an extended nursing shift . In the case of the extended care break , a minimum distance of 5 m from the central water bed must be maintained.

In the LSG there is a legally protected biotope according to § 30 BNatSchG. The biotope area is listed in the biotope cadastre by the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection in North Rhine-Westphalia with the name Obstwiesen und Grünland north of Oesdorf and a size of 47.37 hectares.

For the LSG there is a special requirement to preserve the fruit trees until they are natural. As an additional development measure, the east meadows were to be supplemented with new plantings in larger gaps in the stand and thus secured in the long term.

Protection purpose

The designation was made to maintain, supplement and optimize a grassland biotope network system in the floodplains and the lean grassland communities in the nature reserves , so that animals and plants can keep migrating and spreading, and the preservation of the occurrence of protected bird species and the protection of species-rich plant communities.
