The Landstraßer AC short LAC is an Austrian football club from the 3rd Vienna district highway . The former second division currently plays in the 2nd regional league of the Vienna Football Association, which is the 5th level in Austrian football.

history

In 1911 the Landstraßer AC was founded by the driver Anton Sandner, who had already started the Rennweg sports club, under the name of "Athletics Club Training". In 1918 the club was renamed Landstraßer Amateure . The amateurs experienced their most successful period in the 1930s with later stars like Camillo Jerusalem in the team. In 1933, the club played in the professional second division for the first time and therefore decided in 1936 to change the name Landstraßer Amateure to Landstraßer AC . At this time, the club was able to open its own new “stadium”. This was located directly above the underground horse stables of the "Wurstfabrik Wotraubek" on Erdbergstrasse. After a downpour, the groundskeeper of the Landstrasse was able to make the pent-up water disappear by pushing a long pole through the vaulted ceiling.

After four seasons in the second division, in which they achieved fourth place on their debut, the Landstraßers had to move into the third division. In the following season 1937/38, however, the immediate resurgence was achieved. During the Second World War , there was also a forced merger with the company club Demon and later also a merger with the sports club Delka (2nd division 1937-38) and FC Pfeil . The Landstraßer AC therefore also had sections for gymnastics , athletics , bowling and boxing at that time . The footballers were able to stay in the second division until the end of 1944 and were in first place in the table when the last war championship was canceled.

After the bomb damage caused during the war had been repaired, gaming operations were resumed in 1945. In the first post-war season, Landstraßer AC achieved their best result in the club's history with third place in the table and was only left behind by SC Hochstädt and Hakoah Vienna . In 1948 the football club was third again, again only two points behind SCR Hochstädt and one point behind 1st Schwechater SC . In the following season, the surprising relegation from the second class took place, in which the Landstraßer AC could not return. Today, after a merger with IC Favoriten in 2010, the club finds itself in the fourth-class Vienna City League under the name Landstraßer AC-IC . After the 2012/13 season the merger with SG Inter AGO took place and the club has since played as LAC-Inter in the Vienna Oberliga B. In the 2014/2015 season, the (newly founded) 2nd regional league was inserted between the Vienna City League and the (two-part) Oberliga, for which the traditional club qualified thanks to the good placement of the previous season and in which it had intact championship chances after the autumn championship is on the strong 2nd place!
