The sports club lawn player Hochstädt was an Austrian football club from the 20th district of Brigittenau in Vienna . It existed from 1903 until its merger with Brigittenauer AC in 1972 to form Brigittenauer AC-Hochstädt . In the 1940s, the club played two seasons in the top division and once reached the semi-finals in the Austrian cup competition, but disappeared after relegation from the second division in 1950 into insignificance. The national player and later team boss Erich Hof came from the youth of the club in the early 1950s.

history

The SC Hochstädt was founded in 1903, and for the first time received more attention when it was promoted to the second division. During the Second World War , the club entered into a syndicate with the 1st Floridsdorfer Lawn Player Sports Club , which in 1945 led to the union of SC Lawn Player Hochstädt . The club established itself in the second division and managed to win the second division championship in the first post-war season in 1946, clearly ahead of Hakoah and the Landstraßer AC . But the immediate relegation took place. In the cup, however, after victories over LASK , SAK 1914 and SK Sturm Graz , the club was able to advance to the semi-finals, where a 7-0 defeat against FK Austria Wien meant the end.

In 1948, the club secured the second division championship and immediate promotion with one point ahead of the 1st Schwechater SC . The first division proved to be too strong for the Brigittenauer - only one win in 18 games - and relegation followed again, because the tied SC Rapid Oberlaa had a better goal difference. In 1950, the club had to relegate to third class due to the introduction of the State League. The SCR Hochstädt could not return to a higher class league. The SCR finally merged in 1972 with the district rivals Brigittenauer AC - in the 1920s and 30s first division and cup finalist, but since then only represented in the lower class Viennese leagues - to Brigittenauer AC-Hochstädt .
