Julio Largacha

Julio F. Largacha (born November 1, 1950 in San Juan , Argentina , † July 3, 2006 on the federal highway 43 near Haltern am See , Germany ) was an Argentine pianist and professor of piano.

Together with Bruno Leonardo Gelber , Martha Argerich and Enrique Barenboim he studied piano with Vincenzo Scaramuzza in Buenos Aires . During his time as a scholar at Bloomington University (USA), Claudio Arrau and Eliza Hansen were particularly influential artists for him.

Julio F. Largacha taught as a professor of piano at the Cologne University of Music and at the University of Osnabrück and was artistic director of various master classes. In addition, he received a teaching position at the Episcopal Church Music Seminar in Osnabrück. He also stayed frequently in Buenos Aires and San Juan (Argentina) as well as in Tarragona and Palma (Spain).

His individual way of working, taking into account the possibilities of the student, has made him one of the most important piano teachers internationally. Important pianists such as Bruno Leonardo Gelber , Lasar Berman or Ivo Pogorelich valued him as their artistic advisor.
