Coordinates: 33 ° 45 ′ S , 151 ° 9 ′ E The Municipality of Lane Cove is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . Lane Cove is part of the metropolis of Sydney , the capital of New South Wales. The area is 10.5 km² and has about 36,000 inhabitants.
Lane Cove is about 6 km northwest of Sydney city center on the north side of the harbor . The area includes 18 neighborhoods: Blaxslands Corner, Greenwich, Greenwich Point, Linley Point, Longueville, Northwood, Osborne Park, Riverview, Tambourine Bay, West Lane Cove and parts of Artarmon, Chatswood West, Crows Nest, Gore Hill, Lane Cove, North Lane Cove, St Leonards and Wollstonecraft. The seat of the Municipality Council is in the district of Lane Cove on the northern edge of the LGA.

The Lane Cove Council has nine members elected by the residents of the three wards (three councilors each from Central, East and West Ward). These three districts are determined independently of the districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
