Lanfiéra is both a commune ( French commune rurale ) and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso in the Boucle du Mouhoun region and the Sourou province . The community has 18,839 inhabitants in 12 villages.

Lanfiéra was founded by Mahamadou Sanogo around 1780. His descendant, Ahmed Baba Sanogo, who was born around 1820 and is known as Karamokoba , was killed by the French in 1896 as a resistance worker.
