Langberg is part of the municipality of Handewitt .
location
It lies west of the Flensburg districts of Friesischer Berg and Weiche . For centuries the Langberger Weg led from the Frisian Mountain to this place. Said route still exists today, but is now partially interrupted by other traffic routes and buildings. Gottrupel is located directly north of Langberg . The main town of Handewitt is one kilometer to the west. There is also, two kilometers from Langberg, the Handewitt church on a hill that is also called "Langberg". The street village of Langberg is divided into the street areas Oberlangberg in the north and Unterlangberg in the south. The main access road from Flensburg is now the Flugplatzweg . Directly east of Langberg is the Flensburg-Schäferhaus Airport .

The background to the naming of the place is unclear. The Gallepol hill was near Unterlangberg. In addition to the high court, that is, executions , also Thing took place at the “Gallows Hill” . Langberg used to be a hoof that was already divided into Ober- and Unterlangberg. Langberg was recorded on the map of the Prussian Land Registry.
Before the 20th century, Langberg did not have its own school. The Handewitt District School was not established there until 1906. When school lessons were to be resumed in 1946 after the Second World War, the Langberg children visited the school in Handewitt. The British military government was planning an expansion of the Schäferhaus airport, which is why some Langberg houses including the Langberg school were demolished. However, the plans to expand the neighboring airport did not materialize. In 1949 the Langberg School received a new building. In 1969 the school was finally closed.
