Lapraka ( Albanian  also  Laprakë ) is a district in the northwest of the Albanian capital Tirana . It is located on the outskirts outside the inner ring road.

The quarter was planned as a new residential area in the 1950s and built in the following period. Several industrial companies have also settled around it, such as a cloth and a shoe factory.

Lapraka forms the district 11 of Tirana, which also includes other districts such as Bregu i Lumit , Instituti and parts of Don Bosko . In the north the district is bounded by the Tirana and Kamza rivers, in the south by the Rruga Dritan Hoxha , the connection from the Rruga e Durrësit to the SH2 motorway to Durrës . The railway line Tirana-Durrës is considered to be the northern border of Lapraka . Tirana's new train station and a bus terminal are to be built in Lapraka.

New urban space instead of the old airfield

From the 1930s until the opening of Tirana Airport in 1958, Lapraka Airport served both domestic and international air traffic. The area was also used for military purposes later. Today the former Ish-Fusha e Aviacionit airfield is part of the 7th district and has been transformed into a long park called Parku 1 kilometer . Government helicopters are still stationed in Lapraka. In 1997 the Bundeswehr evacuated German and other foreign citizens from Albania from here during the lottery uprising in Operation Libelle .
