The Largo Adelino Amaro da Costa is a square in the city center of the Portuguese capital Lisbon . It is formed from a square on Rua da Madalena , into which Rua do Regedor and Rua de São Mamede merge.

history

The rectangular square was originally named Largo do Caldas . Two and a half weeks after Prime Minister Francisco Sá Carneiro and Defense Minister Adelino Amaro da Costa were killed in a plane crash, the Câmara Municipal of Lisbon decided on December 22, 1980 to name two main thoroughfares after the two politicians. The responsible commission proposed the two inner groves of Campo Grande for this purpose . Finally, the City Councilor for Culture, Dr. João Martins Vieira put the renaming of Largo do Caldas in the discussion, at which the party headquarters of the CDS is located, of which Amaro da Costa was one of the founders. It took place on April 5, 1982.
