Dueodde (2005-2010)

The Dutch shipyard Volharding Shipyard in Harlingen built the RoPax ferry on behalf of Merwede BV in Hardinxveld-Giessendam based on a successful design by the former shipbuilding company Van der Giessen-De Noord and delivered the Dueodde on April 27, 2005 after a construction period of only eleven months to the client Bornholmstrafikken . The design is optimized for the all-weather transport of trucks , buses , passenger cars and their passengers between relatively small ports. The ship sailed under the flag of Denmark with home port Rønne . The sister ship Hammerodde , built by Merwede, was delivered a week earlier.

From April 30, 2005, the Dueodde (named after the southeastern tip of Bornholm ) operated alternately from the ports of Ystad , Køge and Sassnitz to Rønne on Bornholm.

In early 2010, Bornholmstrafikken decided to sell the unpopular Dueodde instead of the older Povl anchors . The sale took place in the summer of 2010 to the New Zealand Strait Shipping Ltd; accordingly, the Dueodde was no longer used to Bornholm from October 10, 2010. On the same day, the ship arrived in Fredericia for a shipyard overhaul .

Straitsman (since 2010)

On October 13, 2010, the ship was sold to Straitsman Ltd. passed, renamed Straitsman and started sailing under the flag of New Zealand. The ship's home port is Wellington. The ship left Fredericia on October 20, 2010. On December 2, 2010 it arrived in Wellington. Since December 9, 2010, the ship has been used by Strait Shipping Ltd. operated ferry line Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferry between Wellington on the North Island and Picton on the South Island .
