The Povl Anker is a RoPax - ferry of the shipping company Bornholmslinjen that the port of Ronne on Bornholm alternately with the ports of Ystad , Køge and Sassnitz connects. The ship is named after Povl Hansen Anker , a Bornholm freedom fighter from 1658.

history

In November 1976 Bornholmstrafikken commissioned two identical ferries from Aalborg Værft A / S. As the first ship, the Povl Anker was put into service on December 17, 1978 and then used on the routes Copenhagen ↔ Rønne ↔ Ystad. The sister ship , the Jens Kofoed , operated on the same routes from 1979 to 2005.

In the years 2000/2001 the ship was rebuilt, u. a. on the Gdańska Stocznia "Remontowa" in Danzig , and from November 29, 2001 again on the routes Copenhagen ↔ Rønne ↔ Ystad. The Copenhagen station was replaced on October 1, 2004 by the more convenient ferry port of Køge.

With the commissioning of the new RoPax ferries Hammerodde and Dueodde , from May 1, 2005 the Povl anchor was only used as a replacement ferry and at peak times to Bornholm. After the early sale of the unpopular Dueodde , however, the Povl Anker has been running to Bornholm again on schedule since October 10, 2010.

After BornholmerFærgen lost the new tendering of the transport contract for the ferry connections to Bornholm to Molslinjen in 2017 , the Povl anchor was registered for Molslinjen in April 2017 and was chartered back by BornholmerFærgen until the end of the current contract. The ship has been sailing for Bornholmslinjen, a subsidiary of Molslinjen, since September 1, 2018. The Povl anchor is to be modernized in 2019 and 2020.
